Mindfulness, Nourishment, Movement, Enrichment, Relaxation
I believe that wellbeing is a continuous practice that can only be sustained through the application of a holistic approach to health. The fundamental principles of my wellness philosophy stem from the synergistic practice of mindfulness, nourishment, movement, enrichment and relaxation. I believe these to be the key interconnected areas in each of our lives that must be nurtured daily in order for us to sustain our wellbeing. When we are present, aware, well-nourished,sufficiently exercised, enriched and relaxed we are able to function at our peak.
I believe that wellness is dynamic and should never be segmented – this means that all avenues of our wellbeing must be equally considered when embarking on any health related journey. Eating healthy and exercising, while highly beneficial, are not going to provide life-changing vitality and zest if other areas of our lives are out of sync. We must be attentive to the needs that exist within each facet of our lives in order for our health to be optimised. The cyclical and interconnected nature of these principles are much like the functions of the human body: Our bodies are constantly working towards creating an internal state of balance in order to function properly. The most important fact here is that our bodies are constantly working towards attaining and maintaining this equilibrium. Supporting a state of wellness requires much the same consistency – as individuals, we must each consistently work towards achieving synchronicity and harmony between these key areas of our lives in order to be the best possible versions of ourselves.
Fatigue, stress and anxiety are all a function of imbalance which in turn promote the physical accumulation of toxins, and consequently an internal homeostatic disturbance. As a result, our bodies are required to work harder and faster to re-establish and maintain the balance necessary to function. Because our bodies are operating at a higher level of intensity to remove toxins and restore equilibrium, we feel depleted and are unable to source the energy that would otherwise allow us to function at our peak.
Training ourselves to nurture each of these dynamics requires that wellbeing become a priority. Our health is our number one life source. Without our health we can do nothing. Therefore our health is more than deserving of a top priority ranking.
Integrating our health into our daily life requires some adjustments:
Finding time to prepare nutritious meals
Obtaining enough rest
Being mentally present in everything that we do
Making time to express our creativity
However, the energy and vitality that prioritising our health affords enables us to tackle daily challenges far more effectively and efficiently than ever before.
Imagine a life where you are able to conquer tasks, challenges and responsibilities in record time, with plenty of energy left at the end of each day – this is all possible if you allow yourself the opportunity to be healthy. You deserve unlimited health, vitality and wellness to give life all you've got- all it takes is the decision to try.
